Carmichael Productions, Inc. is a motion picture and still photography company located in Boulder, CO. Bob Carmichael is a veteran producer/director/cinematographer with both an Academy Award nomination and a national Emmy Award. Carmichael’s career has focused on documentary, commercial, and feature 2nd unit projects. He worked in the LA production community as a staff director/cinematographer at Fairbanks Films, Paramount Images, Dream Quest Images, and Denali Productions. Carmichael’s company won seven Telly Awards for his novel PhotoGRAPHICvideo technique which was used to capture two Maroon 5 tours in video form. Notably, Carmichael directed and shot the title sequence for Star Trek V. In 2016 the New York Times ran a feature article on Carmichael and his longstanding opposition to football titled For Filmmaker, Game’s Danger Trumps Skills. In 2020 Carmichael created a comprehensive manuscript for a multi-episode television series on American football.
Carmichael is known for creating powerful images and visceral excitement. He has a natural affinity for working with athletes and actors. He studied acting and directing for three years under Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse in LA. Bob has a solid understanding of how to create a set that supports authentic, real-person-real-place performances. Carmichael Productions has high-level expertise in mountain shooting, action sequences, marine environments, and aerial photography. The company has worked extensively with top national and international brands and brings sophistication and know-how to those collaborations.
